1 INTRODUCTION In the past, the topic of sustainability in buildings has been widely discussed (Rafiei & Adeli, 2016; N. Wang & Adeli, 2014; Zavadskas et al., 2018). In recent years, as a key component of the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), the concept of “Sustainable Cities and Communities” (specifically referred to as SDG 11) gains attention and aims to foster inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and communities (Acuto et al., 2018; Franco, 2022).

1 INTRODUCTION Construction projects require intensive physical movement of workers’ body parts, which results in potential work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) in workers (Boschman et al., 2012). WMSDs are the main cause of workers’ physical diseases, accounting for 18% of industrial accidents in Hong Kong (OSH, 2017) and 27.5% of nonfatal injuries in the United States (CPWR, 2018).
