Groundbreaking for the new Mitchell Elementary School is scheduled to begin this spring. According to some residents, Mitchell is currently understaffed. Jordan Else, a resident, said that many students are leaving the school because of a lack of the necessary support services. However, excitement is building as the community anticipates a brand-new facility. Originally constructed in 1951, Mitchell Elementary is situated on approximately 10 acres of land.

The city of Ann Arbor is piloting a “Field of Dreams” pop-up dog park at Veteran’s Memorial Park (field #4), providing locals and their dogs an off-leash space for socialization and play. Opened November 15, 2024, the pop-up will remain until April 20. The park welcomes visitors daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., with field lights shining after dark. Veteran’s Park is located at 2150 Jackson Avenue near the intersection of Maple and Jackson.

The Cincinnati-area duo Over the Rhine will perform “An Acoustic Christmas” on Saturday, December 7 , at 8 p.m. at The Ark, 316 South Main St., Ann Arbor. Linford Detweiler and Karin Berguist are both vocalists and musicians who play multiple instruments. “We have recorded three Over the Rhine Christmas albums over three years and draw a wintry mix of songs from these recordings for special year-end concerts,” Detweiler said.
