Transportation American Airlines now offers TSA PreCheck Touchless ID at Transportation Security Administration checkpoints at four airports, the carrier announced Thursday. The airline in October 2024 said it would begin offering the service. American AAdvantage loyalty members now can use the service at Reagan Washington National Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Salt Lake City International Airport.

Transportation JetBlue and United Airlines have partnered to link theirloyalty programs and gain access to each carrier's hubs at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport, theairlines announced Thursday. Some of the benefits of the deal, dubbed Blue Sky,will become available as early as this fall. The announcements confirm what had been reportedby Reuters in late April.

Total April air passenger traffic demand, as measured in revenue passenger kilometers, increased 8 percent year over year, according to the International Air Transport Association. The growth was driven primarily by international demand, which was up 10.8 percent year over year for the month. Domestic demand also increased, but at the lower rate of 3.3 percent.

Brazil-based low-cost carrier Azul has filed for Chapter 11protection, the airline announced Wednesday. The move comes two weeks afterAzul issued a statement in response to press reports that it was exploring aU.S. bankruptcy filing, saying at that time it had "made significantprogress in reducing its debt and leverage."Â Azul has entered into agreements with key financialstakeholders, partners American Airlines and United Airlines, and its largestlessor, AerCap, to restructure the carrier.

Transportation Southwest Airlines today began charging for checked bags booked and ticketed or changed on or after May 28 and shared this week what those fees would be. The carrier in March announced plans to end its "two bags fly free" policy. For the carrier's Basic, Wanna Get Away Plus and Anytime fares, the first checked bag is $35, and a second checked bag is $45. Business Select fares and Rapid Rewards A-List Preferred members still get up to two checked bags for free.
