Friday the 13th turned out to be lucky for the winners of the fifth annual Kids Biz Expo sponsored by Bobcat. The event was previously scheduled for Aug. 2 but rescheduled due to local storms. Musicians Jamee Paul and Leif Shires will bring their show “Bonded,” which features music from the iconic James Bond movies, to the Mac Gray Auditorium at Statesville High School on Saturday at 7 p.m. The show is part of the Performing Arts Live season series.

Mooresville Fire-Rescue, Mooresville E-911 Communications, and Mooresville Police Department continue to aid western North Carolina communities devastated by Hurricane Helene. Mooresville Fire-Rescue’s (MFR) Swiftwater Rescue Team continues to search buildings and debris piles for survivors and victims, survey and document damage, and distribute water and food to residents in Ashe County. To date, the team has rescued 11 people and two animals in Ashe County.

Ten years ago:Oct. 8-14, 2014Record & LandmarkThe work of Statesville father-and-son photographers Jasper and Benjamin A. Stimson spanned nearly eight decades, from the late 1890s to 1969. Photographs from their work are now on display at the Iredell County Public Library in Statesville. The Stimson Photograph Collection consists of more than 40,000 photographs and negatives, taken between 1891 and 1969, said Iredell County Local History Librarian Joel Reese.
