In November, Donald Trump won the presidency with 49.8 percent of the popular vote. That was up three percentage points from his 2020 loss to Joe Biden, and 3.7 more than his win over Hillary Clinton in 2016. There’s a college football game being played Thursday night, and it’s going to be big. One program will become the first in the sport’s expanded playoff era to earn a spot in the 12-team tournament’s National Championship Game on Jan. 20 in Atlanta. Another will fall painfully short of that dream. Fans will watch intently from New York City to Los Angeles, from the North’s tundra to the Deep South. Certainly, it will be intense in Miami Gardens, Florida, too.
