Police in Meru retrieved the body of a 28-year-old woman who drowned while trying to rescue her baby at Rwanjange village on Wednesday evening November 27, 2024. According to an eyewitness, the mother was carrying her baby while fetching water before the minor accidentally slipped off her back into the flooded swamp. She then jumped into the flooded swamp to save her child but instead, she was swept away.

Agriculture Principal Secretary Dr Paul Kiprono Rono has announced a national crackdown on fake agrochemicals which he termed as poisonous and dangerous to human consumption . Speaking when he toured Meru county over the weekend, Rono said the chemicals are rampant adding they have partnered with Pesticides Control Products Board (PCPD) to ensure the market is free from harmful chemical and farm inputs which are sold to unsuspecting farmers .
