The climate crisis has reached a boiling point in Canada. With the summer months, and now October, smashing previous record temperatures, climate scientists say with near certainty 2023 will be the hottest year on record. Canada’s wildfire season was, too, the most severe on record, forcing tens of thousands to flee their homes, with smoke enveloping cities and choking Canadians and Americans thousands of kilometres away from the source. Canadian wildfire smoke even darkened the skies over Europe.
