Eighteen-year-old Markell Lazard’s body was recovered from the river around 9 a.m. Monday following a nearly four-day search. Allen Parish Sheriff Doug Hebert III said Tuesday that foul play is not suspected, though a police investigation is ongoing.

Markell Lazard, 18, was reported missing around 2 p.m. Friday after he was last seen swimming at the river beach area off La. 26, just west of Oberlin, according to Allen Parish Sheriff Doug Hebert III.

All Allen Parish schools will be closed Wednesday, March 30 due to the high winds and severe weather threat especially the north end of the parish, according to Superintendent Kent Reed. Schools will reopen on Thursday.
