    June 6 (UPI) -- Former Washington, D.C., Police Intelligence Chief Lt. Shane Lamond got 18 months in a federal prison Friday for obstructing an investigation by lying regarding contact he had with Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio. Lamond leaked information to Tarrio that he was being investigated and then lied about doing that, according to prosecutors. Lamond was convicted of one count of obstructing justice and three counts of making false statements to federal law enforcement. Judge Amy B.

    June 6 (UPI) -- The Department of the Interior on Friday announced approval of a mining plan modification for Bull Mountains coal mine in Montana. It authorizes Signal Peak Energy LLC to mine roughly 22.8 million tons of federal coal. It also permits the company to mine 34.5 million tons of adjacent non-federal coal. The mine is in Musselshell and Yellowstone counties and exports coal to Japan and South Korea.

    June 6 (UPI) -- In graphic, tearful testimony depicting her time with Sean "Diddy" Combs, a former girlfriend known as "Jane" Friday described being coerced into sex with escorts against her will. Jane said during Combs' "freak offs" he dictated what he wanted her to do, which included sex sessions that ended with the escorts "finishing on me."She testified she and Combs would have sex immediately afterward and he wouldn't let her clean the ejaculation off her body.

    June 6 (UPI) -- Switzerland's Federal Council Friday submitted new capital requirements for mega-banks like UBS in the wake of the Credit Suisse crisis. It requires UBS to hold $26 billion more in core capital. The Swiss Federal Council said in a statement that a review of the Credit Suisse crisis showed reforms are needed to reduce risks for the state, taxpayers and the economy.

    June 6 (UPI) -- The Netherlands Friday scheduled a snap election for Oct. 29 following the collapse of the government caused by the far-right Party for Freedom leaving the governing coalition. Outgoing Minister of Foreign Affairs Judith Uitermark announced the election date in a post on X. "In the coming period, I will work with the municipalities and other stakeholders to prepare so that this important day in our democracy goes smoothly!" Uitermark said.
