Wild. That word is being used a lot right now in cattle market conversations. There is a lot going on in the markets. For some people, it is a lot to take in and try to make sense of. VECTORBOMB-THINKSTOCKPHOTOSI listen to podcasts that are focused on areas outside of agriculture. As I listen to these, I am looking for parallels that I can apply to my operation. The shows I listen to have helped generate some creativity and ideas. This week however, those shows are suffering from tariff trauma. All they talk about right now is how bad tariffs will be for the economy and the doom that is likely to come.

VECTORBOMB-THINKSTOCKPHOTOSThere were a couple days this week I received more messages than I ever have. A message every three minutes for a few hours is a bit overwhelming. There was a wide range of topics on people’s minds. For a while now I have been getting a kick out of the expression on people’s faces when they get their check after selling cattle. Many of these folks have never received a check that big before. They think they are making a windfall profit. Some are and some are losing money.
