Programmes such as Universal Credit, Child Benefit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), and Housing Benefit, alongside social housing, aim to assist the vulnerable. These programmes were not intended to provide permanent support for non-citizens living at public expense. Increasingly, however, significant numbers of non-UK nationals access these resources, straining public finances.
