Hurricane season in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans officially starts on June 1. A weak low pressure system caught the eye of forecasters on Wednesday. This low pressure system has an incredibly low chance of developing into a named storm, but serves as a reminder that the weather is starting to change.

    HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Trade winds will slightly increase in speed by the middle of this week. The high-pressure system to the north of the island chain is strengthening over the next several days. By the weekend, east-northeasterly sustained winds could reach close to 20-25 miles per hour. An upper-level disturbance is also expected to move over the state midweek, increasing the chance for windward and mauka showers on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

    HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The sun will be completely blocked by the moon across parts of the continental United States in just over three weeks. A total solar eclipse will move over parts of Texas and up towards Maine on April 8, 2024. In Hawaii, we will only experience a partial eclipse. The eclipse will begin at 6:33 a.m. right after sunrise at 6:18 a.m.That means that the eclipse will happen close to the horizon. The eclipse will begin at ~83 degrees from the north.
