AbstractDiffusion MRI-based structural connectomes are increasingly used to investigate brain connectivity changes associated with various disorders. However, small sample sizes in individual studies, along with highly heterogeneous disorder-related manifestations, underscore the need to pool datasets across multiple studies to be able to identify coherent and generalizable connectivity patterns linked to these disorders.

In the NFL, it feels like we’re in the age of offense. Nearly all rules are catered toward offenses scoring more points, a trend that continued this offseason with banning the “hip-drop” tackle and introducing new kickoff rules that start most offensive drives from the 30-yard line instead of the 25. Offenses seem more nuanced and varied than ever before.

This time last year, I wrote my first “Parker’s Sports Corner” column about NFL week one overreactions. Although part of the column was an attempt to shed light on how ridiculous week one overreactions often are, much of my commentary ended up being correct. The Philadelphia Eagles had an average season finishing 11-6, before being embarrassed in the Wild Card round of the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Cincinnati Bengals struggled, finishing 9-8 and missing the playoffs altogether.

Watching the Philadelphia 76ers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder game on TNT last Tuesday, one thing stood out to me beyond superstar Joel Embiid’s return to the court after two months on the sidelines: you cannot get away from gambling. The MLB season is already underway with the Padres vs. Dodgers series in Seoul, South Korea last week. Like I did at the start of the NBA season, I will be giving you eight things to watch for in the 2024 MLB season. Can the Phillies Repeat the Magic yet again? Like their division rivals in Atlanta, the Phillies had similar seasons the past two years. Both years included being 10 games below .500 in June, before turning that into a hot second half that catapulted them into a wild-card spot.

With the start of the NBA playoffs about a month and a half away, it’s time to break up the contenders into tiers that make more sense of the league’s current outlook. Keep in mind these rankings are made with the hope that all of these teams are at full strength. A lot can change between now and the beginning of the playoffs, especially regarding injuries, but this is how I see things shaping out today.

After every NFL season, at least five teams will fire their head coach, resulting in a carousel of head coaching candidates. This year, five defensively-minded head coaches and three offensively-minded head coaches were hired, which doesn’t match the general direction of the league. Over the past decade, NFL football has become an offensively-minded game.

As a sports fanatic, I tend to think of the seasons as sports seasons: Fall into winter is football season, winter into spring is basketball season and spring into summer is baseball season. We may all have a favorite season for sports, but what about which month is best? Although this may seem random to rank the months by sports intrigue, you’ll thank me later when you use this as a reference for when to stay busy and when to lay down and watch sports all day.
