Volkswagen Group today announced a huge collaboration deal with Israeli advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) company Mobileye Global Inc (Nasdaq: MBLY) to install the ADAS systems in future models, which will be based on its MQB modular transverse toolkit platform. The system will not allow full autonomous driving without driver involvement but will allow hands-free driving in defined situations on approved highways.

The wave of car price hikes in Israel has begun, after the Knesset approved the changes vehicle taxation at the last minute. Following the purchase tax increase on electric vehicles from 35% to 45% and the reduction in the tax benefit ceiling, car importers are publishing updated price lists for 2025, which reflect the resulting price increase. The rate of increase is not expected to be uniform, as various tax changes have occurred in each category.

The Ministry of Finance announced today that Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich has instructed officials to halt the sharp rise in purchases tax on electric vehicles, which was due to come into effect next month. Instead of hiking the tax from 35% to 83%, the tax will now only rise to 45%. The announcement said that according to the current taxation outline plan, purchase tax on electric vehicles had been expected to equal the tax on gasoline vehicles.
