Stillwater, OK – Oklahoma State quarterback Maealiuaki Smith is entering the transfer portal. ESPN first reported the move, it was later confirmed by News 4’s Dylan Buckingham. Smith had 14 power five offers coming out of high school before choosing OSU. The California native appeared in just four games for the Cowboys last fall and was able to keep his redshirt status. The freshman went 44 of 74, 489 yards, 2 touchdowns and 4 interceptions in his lone season in Stillwater.

New York, NY – A pair of players with Oklahoma ties earned major NBA G League honors for the 2024-25 season. Former Heritage Hall and Creighton star Trey Alexander earned G League Rookie of the Year for his time with the Grand Rapids Gold. The G League affiliate of the Denver Nuggets. Alexander averaged 26.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.6 steals per contest in 22 G League games this season. Alexander has appeared in 22 NBA games with the Nuggets this season.

OU’s Jeremiah Fears entering NBA Draft

Norman, OK – Oklahoma All-SEC freshman Jeremiah Fears is forgoing the rest of his college eligibility and entering the NBA Draft, he tells ESPN. In Fears’ lone season at OU he started 31 of 34 games averaging 17 points, four rebounds, four assists on 43 percent shooting from the field. He also played 30 minutes a contest. Fears led the Sooners to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2021. ESPN considers Fears the 7th ranked prospect in the upcoming NBA Draft.

However, News 4’s Dylan Buckingham reports the added years include a pay raise. The extension comes following an off-season where Hoyt was a coveted head coaching candidate across college basketball. Norman, OK – After just one season in Norman OU guard Duke Miles is entering the transfer portal, per On3. Miles joined the Sooners from High Point where he played one season there as well. Prior to that, Miles played at Troy for three seasons. The Alabama native will have one season of eligibility remaining due to a medical waiver he was granted for the 2022-23 season where he played in just six games.

Arlen Clark (men’s basketball), Alex Dieringer (wrestling), Hart Lee Dykes (football), Jamie Fouth (softball), Viktor Hovland (men’s golf), and Earl McCready (wrestling) are all being inducted Friday, September 26 as the 2025 class. They’re part of an elite group that joins just 87 other members.
Trae Young named assistant general manager of OU Basketball

NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) — Trae Young’s playing days aren’t over, he’s just diversifying he’s resume. The Norman native announced on ESPN’s NBA Today that he’s accepted a role as assistant general manager of the OU basketball program. In addition to his new position, Young will donate $1 million dollars to the program. “As someone who grew up in Norman and played at the University of Oklahoma, stepping into the role of assistant GM for OU Basketball is a huge honor,” said Young.
