The Wildcats are entering the first year under new head coach Kevin Willard, who left Maryland this offseason. The date of this year’s matchup is to be announced, per Rothstein. The Wolverines will play a return game at Villanova in 2026-27. Michigan and Villanova have met several times over the past decade, including in the 2018 National Championship game and the 2022 Sweet Sixteen.

    UAB transfer Yaxel Lendeborg will withdraw from the 2025 NBA Draft and transfer to Michigan, as first reported by ESPN. The 6-foot-9 graduate transfer averaged 17.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 33.6 minutes per game at UAB last season. He’ll have one year of eligibility remaining at Michigan. Lendeborg was projected as a late-first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
