GRIMES COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) - Highway 105 and 249 just south of Navasota has been described as dangerous by Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell. “In my opinion, the planning for the dump job of 249 onto State Highway 105 was ill planned. To accommodate the flow of traffic onto the State Highway 105, or in the mornings or in the evenings to access 249; it clogs up the traffic in Navasota. Every day, the local people are gridlocked,” Sheriff Sowell explained.

SOMERVILLE, Texas (KBTX) - A much-debated school bond was officially passed after just over 53% of voters voted in favor of the $42 million bond. Somerville ISD Superintendent Eric Holton said the approval shows the community’s pride. “Time and time again, when students have a great learning environment, they do better. When teachers have the tools and the resources necessary to do their job, they perform better,” boasted Supt. Holton.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday night, telling the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to stop funding PBS and NPR to the extent allowed by law. The White House intends to ask Congress to cut funding for public broadcasting moving forward. These cuts could have a severe impacts on KAMU and local broadcasting in the Brazos Valley. PBS and NPR here in the Brazos Valley are provided by KAMU.
