Bryan and College Station ISDs say they are working on plans for their districts. “One of the thoughts was that students should not have access during the school day to those devices as a distraction to learning,” said Disability of Texas Senior Policy Specialist Steven Aleman.

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Brazos County elected District Attorney Jarvis Parsons helped write H.B. 1871 and says the new bill will make attempted capital murder of a peace officer a first-degree felony. “Prosecutors have to make decisions as to what’s the best case. But sometimes, prior to this legislation, the best case sends a mixed message to law enforcement that they weren’t trying to murder you because the punishment was so low in the prior cases on attempted capital murder,” Parsons explained.
