PANAMA CITY — A high-speed chase wrecked several vehicles and started a fire in Bay County on June 4. The Bay County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post that on June 4 deputies responded to a call about an argument where a man had brandished a handgun in the 100 block of Comet Avenue in Callaway. They say that 25-year-old Corey Peterson fled the scene in his car.

PANAMA CITY BEACH — There was a shooting on the night of June 3 outside of a Panama City Beach Waffle House that resulted in the death of a 19-year-old. The Panama City Beach Department announced the arrests of 18-year old Kiydre McCullough, of Lynn Haven; 18-year-old Ja’Zai Mitchell, of Panama City; and a 16-year-old defendant. The third defendant's name is withheld because of his age. Ja’Dion Love Hughes, 19, of Panama City, died as a result of the shooting.

PANAMA CITY BEACH — U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds stopped into town on June 1 as part of a "Trump Day Dinner" fundraiser held by the Bay County Republican Party of Florida. He's the president's next pick for governor of Florida. Donalds, a Republican, represents Florida's 19th Congressional District, encompassing Fort Myers and Naples. A 2026 Florida gubernatorial candidate, Donalds was endorsed by President Donald Trump in a Feb. 20 Truth Social post.

Five dolphins have died at Gulf World Marine Park in eight months, prompting government intervention. Relocation of the remaining dolphins has been delayed due to bureaucratic processes. The dolphins are planned to be moved to Marineland Dolphin Adventure, which has also faced scrutiny for its facilities.
