Plug me in, a financing and installation provider for electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has introduced Plug me in Go, to ease fleet electrification. Plug me in Go is intended to minimise the disruption of switching to an electric fleet, providing businesses with an all-in-one EV charging solution. The solution, designed for fleet operators, includes charge point installation, as well as the firm’s Pulse software, which allows fleet managers to control charge point usage, and view costs.

Research by Peugeot has found that 43% of UK drivers have a ‘poor’ or ‘very poor’ understanding of electric vehicles (EVs). Of the 2,000 motorists surveyed, 23% said their understanding of EVs was ‘good’ or ‘very good’, although this number increased to 49% among 25 to 34-year-olds, and decreased to 13% in over-65s.

Data released by the Department for Transport (DfT) shows that speeding under free-flowing traffic conditions, with no speed cameras, has decreased since 2018. 43% of drivers on 30mph roads exceeded the speed limit last year, compared to 51% in 2018, with numbers decreasing each year since 2020. On motorways, the DfT found that 44% of drivers were speeding, compared to 50% in 2018, while the figures for National Speed Limit single carriageways were 9% in 2024, and 11% in 2018.

Vertu Motors has reported a 7% growth in year-on-year new car sales across March, April and May, compared to the wider market’s gain of 5.6%. Used car volumes decreased by 3.8% in the same period, which Vertu attributed to reduced supply of used vehicles. However, margins on used vehicles increased from 7.3% to 7.5%. Motability sales were weak across the group’s network, with a year-on-year decrease of 23.2% across March, April and May, compared to a UK-wide decline of 18.5%.

Data from Warranty Solutions Group (WSG) has found that its Prep4Less scheme saves the average dealership £2,107 per month. The scheme allows independent dealerships to source parts at a reduced cost, with WSG negotiating exclusive deals with more than 20 parts distributors, including AVG Windscreens and Euro Car Parts. The biggest saving seen so far this year was for a BMW X5 engine, which a main dealer priced at £13,073 – Prep4Less sourced an engine for £5,342.
