The U.S. will neither be pushed out of the Indo-Pacific nor allow its allies to be subordinated by China, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said in Singapore. The Malaysian government has signed a US$10.4 million contract for Naval Strike Missile (NSM) launchers to be installed on the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) frigate KD Jebat, and has issued a $189.3 million Letter of Intent (LOI) for logistic support and sea trials for the Maharaja-Lela-class Littoral Combat Ships (LCS). Both announcements were made during the biennial Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) exhibition, held from 20–24 May in Malaysia.

The Chinese Liaoning Carrier Strike Group is now operating off the southeast coast of Taiwan. the Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said on Wednesday. The People’s Liberation Army Navy Liaoning CSG had earlier sailed through the Miyako Strait in Japan’s southwest region to enter the Philippine Sea on Tuesday, following two days of conducting flight operations in the East China Sea, according to Japan Joint Staff Office (JSO) release.

The People’s Liberation Army Navy Liaoning Carrier Strike Group is operating 124 miles north of the disputed Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea as of Sunday according to the Japan Joint Staff Office. On Sunday as well, U.S Navy aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN-68) and destroyer USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG-54) wrapped up a port visit to Port Klang, Malaysia and are now headed back into the South China Sea.
