Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown is currently dealing with a knee injury. Brown has been dealing with a right knee impingement since early March. While Brown has played in 13 of the 19 games following his injury it’s clear that he isn’t fully healthy. On Tuesday night Brown had a rough night only scoring six points on 2-8 shooting, he also sat on the bench for the fourth quarter and overtime. Brown was not at full strength and displayed signs of significant pain throughout the game.

On Monday night the Florida Gators defeated the Houston Cougars 65-63 to win their third NCAA national championship. Former Florida star and current Boston Celtics big man Al Horford was in attendance. Notably, Horford helped Florida win back-to-back national championships in 2006 and 2007. After the game, the 18-year veteran big man implied he would return to the NBA next season amid retirement rumors. Horford has been highly productive this season and his return would excite Celtics fans.

Luke Kornet has been key for the Boston Celtics as a backup center this season. In 18.4 minutes per game, Kornet is averaging 5.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and .9 blocks while shooting 68 percent from the field. With Kristaps Porziņģis‘ injury history and Al Horford‘s age, Kornet is vital to the Celtics’ bench. However, Kornet is a free agent this summer and given the Celtics’ standing as a second-apron team it will be challenging to retain him.

During Friday night’s victory over the Phoenix Suns, the Boston Celtics made history by passing the 2022-23 Golden State Warriors for the most total three-pointers in a single season. This impressive accomplishment rightfully made plenty of headlines, however, Celtics guard Derrick White also made history in this game by becoming the first player to record at least 250 three-pointers and 75 blocks in a season. White’s two-way brilliance has been key to the Celtics’ success.

With seven games left in the season, the Boston Celtics still have one remaining roster spot. Having an open roster spot this late into the season isn’t uncommon and there are some financial benefits to waiting until the end of the season. However, considering how late in the season it is, the Celtics will likely convert one of their two-way players to a standard contract before the regular season ends.
