The Kneecap controversy has been played out on social media with the usual polarising results by: Eamonn Forde Controversy sells… until it doesn’t. And censorship works… until it doesn’t. Currently caught on the horns of both dilemmas are Northern Irish rap trio Kneecap. In April, they played Coachella and used the stage screens to protest against Israel’s military activity in Gaza (including flashing up the phrases “Fuck Israel” and “Free Palestine”).

On the release of their second album (Ants From Up There in 2022), experimental/alternative band Black Country, New Road announced that lead singer and guitarist Isaac Wood was leaving. The band continued, but shifted musically into a more folky and baroque sound. The release of Forever Howlong in April 2025 therefore required careful management in the set up.
