Watergrasshill joined an exclusive set of Cork clubs after an amazing All-Ireland intermediate final at Croke Park on Sunday. They're the fourth Cork team to lift that particular trophy, after Kanturk, Ballymartle and Blarney. There have been five senior winners, Newtown, the last in 2004, Midleton, Blackrock, St Finbarr's the Glen, with Sars hoping to join that pantheon next weekend.

The action at Croke Park was pulsating from start to dramatic finish when Sean Desmond’s salvo of 1-1 decided it. What a game. What a way for Watergrasshill to win. There was a great blend of long deliveries, ferocious work-rate, high fielding and absolute honesty from both sides throughout. The scoring rate might not have been inter-county level but there were a number of brilliant points all the same. Adam Murphy, Desmond and the Galway side’s Shane Moloney and Ben Moran landed some utter gems.

Ballincollig put up a battling display against holders and hot favourites Liffey Celtics in the NICC Women’s National Cup semi-final at MTU. George Meade’s side had a dream start, charging into a 13-2 lead inside the opening five minutes but couldn’t sustain their advantage against an experienced and deep Celtics, who dominated the second and third quarters.

Promising young Cork hurlers Brian O'Sullivan and Jack Leahy featured as a powerful University of Limerick outfit outclassed DCU in the Senior Division 1 Hurling League final. Kanturk midfielder O'Sullivan, an All-Ireland U20 winner in 2020 and '21 under current Cork senior boss Pat Ryan, was also involved in the UL side that landed the Fitzgibbon Cup two years ago along with Courcey Rovers' Seán Twomey.

The Cork minor and U20 squads have been given the dates for the 2025 Munster U20 and Minor Hurling and Football Championships, which will commence next spring. Tipperary will begin the defence of their Munster crown with a home game versus Limerick in the opening round on Wednesday, March 26. Clare will host Cork, whose management team includes Noel Furlong and Donal Óg Cusack, on the same evening and all the round-robin games take place on Wednesdays in March and April.
