BETTER late than never for Charly "King's Warrior" Suarez. At age 36, Suarez is arguably already in his dog years as a professional boxer. Suarez, however, is promising to display a mean bark and punch when he faces reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior lightweight or super featherweight (130 pounds) champion Emanuel "Vaquero" Navarrete of Mexico on May 11 (Manila time) in San Diego, California. Suarez totes an unblemished record of 18-0 with 10 knockouts.

THE decision of the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) to keep the majority draw verdict in the recent fight between WBA lightweight champion Gervonta "Tank" Davis and challenger Lamont Roach Jr. was more or less expected. Roach, a huge underdog, gave the hard-punching Davis the toughest fight of his career. Roach went 12 rounds with Davis, only the fight was declared a majority draw. While one judge scored it 115-113 for Davis, two other judges turned in similar scores of 114-114.
