    CHARLY Suarez just cannot catch a break. In his May 10 showdown with WBO junior lightweight (130 pounds) champion Emanuel Navarrete in San Diego, California, Suarez found himself on the receiving end of an erroneous ruling when Navarrete was declared the winner by technical decision in eight rounds. To recapitulate, Navarrete sustained a nasty cut on his left eye in the sixth round. Referee Edward Collantes ruled that it was an accidental headbutt, not a legitimate punch, that caused the cut.

    Manny Pacquiao set the boxing world on fire with his announcement that he is returning to the ring on July 20 (Manila time) for a showdown with reigning WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios of San Antonio, Texas. Pacquiao's return is drawing criticisms. The WBC, for one, is taking a lot of heat for instantly ranking him at No. 5 in its welterweight ranking to justify the fight with Barrios.
