    Still No Budget DealNo specific date has been announced yet, but Florida lawmakers will return to Tallahassee to hash-out differences on budget proposals. Formal conference negotiations to address the legislative budget and tax impasse have still not started. After the House passed a resolution on May 12 to extend the session until the last day of the fiscal year (June 30), legislators were told they did not have to return to Tallahassee until after Memorial Day.

    If President Trump’s tax cuts were on the Senate floor today, Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) said he would vote against it. He criticized the bill for its lack of spending cuts and its failure to attempt a federal budget balance. Sen. Scott isn’t the only conservative opposing the bill in its current form.
