BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services has issued a Missing Child Alert for 18-year-old Amisi Byaombe. Byaombe is developmentally disabled and may be in need of medical attention. The state says he was last seen on Prospect Avenue in Buffalo, about 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Buffalo Board of Education is yet to vote on a third-party independent investigator to look into claims, made a month ago on a podcast, by Buffalo Police Detective Richard Hy. The detective claims the district is covering up abuse inside schools. On the district's website, the deadline for those third-party firms to submit a proposal is May 30. Councilwoman Zeneta Everhart, who is the chairperson of the Education Committee, addressed this timeline.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) — A new hotel bed tax is being proposed in the New York State Senate, by Senator April Baskin, for the Town of Cheektowaga. Baskin says this is necessary because town expenses are going up and it has a "sizable debt." She says this proposed bed tax would help reduce the need for future borrowing and would limit major property tax hikes. Baskin has not said how much the bed tax would be.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) — One person is now in custody of Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) police, after they say the person "intentionally breached" a gate to the Buffalo Niagara International Airport runway. An NFTA spokesperson says this happened about 7:30 a.m. at Gate One.

(WKBW) — The winter wildcat strikes, with corrections officers calling for better conditions inside state prisons, the 7 News I-Team is learning about the impact strikes had on staffing levels. The 7 News I-Team has learned more than 500 prison staffers, statewide, resigned between February and April of this year. Many of those resignations came during or after that weeks-long strike.
