A further two arrests have been made following a car ploughing into four pedestrians in Leicester in the early hours of Saturday. Emergency crews rushed to the scene in De Montfort Street, where three of the victims were rushed to hospital in Leicester with "serious" injuries following the collision that occurred shortly after 12:30am yesterday. All three remain in hospital, while the fourth is said to have suffered "minor injuries". Leicestershire Police have now made three arrests.

A 10-year-old school boy has died after he was beaten with a rod in front of the entire school by his headmaster over a "minor issue". The incident occurred at a private school in the Khyber district in northern Pakistan on Friday during a school assembly. Khyalmat Khan, who was in year six, died in hospital following the abuse, according to local media.

White working-class children are falling behind their peers in all but 21 of the 3,400 schools across the country, shocking official data has revealed. Under one per cent of more than 3,400 secondary schools across England see such pupils performing as well as their peers. The proportion of white working-class pupils achieving grades five or above in English and maths GCSE was just 18.6 per cent, substantially below the 45.9 per cent national average.
