    Alexander Albon said Williams need to scrutinise how changes in conditions affect their car following the team’s reversals in form in Mexico. Hopes were high at the team after Albon finished second in final practice on Saturday. However in he was only able to qualify 14th. Much the same happened to him on Friday, where Albon finished second in first practice but fell to 14th in the second session later on.

    Sergio Perez said tyre troubles were behind a disappointing qualifying session for the Mexican Grand Prix which left him on the third row of the grid. The Red Bull driver qualified fifth for his home race, two tenths of a second behind team mate Max Verstappen in third, and a further tenth of a second off pole sitter Charles Leclerc. Perez was seventh after his first run in Q3 on a used set of soft tyres. He then joined his rivals in using a fresh set for his final lap, and jumped up to fifth.

    Oliver Bearman believes he is good enough to reach Formula 1 after impressing on his practice debut at the Mexican Grand Prix. The Formula 2 driver ran in Kevin Magnussen’s Haas in the opening Friday practice session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Bearman ended the hour session with the 15th-fastest time, within half a second of team-mate Nico Hulkenberg’s best lap.

    Alexander Albon said his aim for the United States Grand Prix is to stop Haas and Alfa Romeo from scoring points and closing on Williams in the constructors’ championship. He qualified 18th for today’s race, two positions higher than team mate Logan Sargeant. Both Alfa Romeos start ahead of them in 12th and 13th. The Haas drivers took 14th and 16th on the grid. However they will start from the pit lane after switching to different rear wing specifications from today’s race.

    Both Aston Martin drivers will start today’s United States Grand Prix from the pit lane, the team has confirmed. The team intends to make set-up changes to their cars which will require them to be taken out of parc ferme conditions. Haas is expected to do the same, leaving just 16 cars on the grid for today’s race. Aston Martin have endured a troubled weekend after bringing an upgrade package for its AMR23s. It ran into trouble early in first practice.
