(WPDE) — Hurricane season is still nearly two months away, but Dr. Phil Klotzbach and his research team at Colorado State University released their forecast for the 2025 hurricane season on Thursday. It's likely the 2025 season will have above-normal activity. The forecast calls for 17 named storms, nine of which become hurricanes and four of which are major hurricanes (category 3 or higher). In an average year, we expect 14 named storms, seven hurricanes, and three major hurricanes.

Happy 100th birthday to this beautiful queen, Mabel Brozowski! She's a resident at Spring Oak Senior Living at Conway and all her lady friends gathered to celebrate. She was so sweet and said the secret to longevity is to keep moving. She worked on a farm for part of her life! https://t.co/yPSRtAByMH

Photos of the “smiley face”this morning over Murrells Inlet (Jim Arnold) and Myrtle Beach (Patricia Merrill). While it was cool to see, it wasn’t as dramatic as some on social media led you to believe. https://t.co/KlsyD0f5Ju
