I campaigned for Supervisor (and Town Council in 2017), on a platform to stop overdevelopment. I am still committed to that platform. Overdevelopment exacerbates the daunting strain on our existing infrastructure, traffic, environment, and resources. Melville Town Center is not over developed. Melville is already fully developed with many large empty parking lots and vacant or underutilized office buildings.

Women of menopausal age are the fastest growing demographic in the UK. The average age of starting the menopause transition is in a woman’s 40s, often at the height of their careers. But for some, it can be earlier, entering early menopause in their 20s and 30s. As more employees experience the menopause during their working lives, organisations need to be aware of its impact in the workplace and offer appropriate support. This year’s theme for World Menopause Day 2023 is Cardiovascular Disease.

We do not lack examples of entropy in the justice system that serve as a metaphor for the whole. This week, we’ve had at least two. First, a flea infestation at Hull Crown Court that required the mobilisation of pest controllers. Rats, yes – but fleas? That must surely be a first. Second, a Grade II-listed old courthouse in Cockermouth, Cumbria, partially collapsed, threatening to take the law firm next door with it (it didn’t, fortunately).
