Forget the dry arts of international diplomacy. To cope with the US president's behaviour, a mixture of theatre studies and child psychology would be more use. The trick is to find quick, dramatic plot twists that distract attention and avert tantrums. From that cynical viewpoint, the upsets of the past week look manageable. True, the Trump administration voted with Russia, Iran and North Korea at the UN, against its closest and oldest allies.
