However, due to a left knee effusion injury, Vincent only played in 11 games for the purple and gold in 2023-24. The hope was that this season Vincent would be healthy and able to contribute in year two of his deal.

Once he returned from his calf strain, he hit the ground running and managed to get the team to the 50-win mark, which guaranteed them a playoff spot and the third seed in the West. Luka accomplished this largely because he is a superstar All-NBA talent, but coaching also played a factor.

With rookie head coach JJ Redick at the helm, the Lakers won 50 games and secured an automatic spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2020. Perhaps this is why, during president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka’s exit interview, he reinforced his commitment toward Redick after an early postseason exit.
