The field has been set for the 2025 NCAA softball tournament, which means the road to the Women's College World Series is set, too. As was expected going into the selection show, the SEC dominated: Fourteen of the conference's 16 teams are heading to the postseason, led by SEC tournament co-champions Texas A&M and Oklahoma, the top two seeds of the tournament, respectively. The SEC claimed seven of the top eight seeds and nine of the top 16 overall.

The NCAA selection committee has spoken, and the 2025 NCAA Softball Tournament field is set. Sixty-four teams will begin their road to a potential appearance in the Women's College World Series at the end of May and beginning of June in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The teams included in the field are the 31 automatic qualifiers for conference champions and 33 at-large teams. Starting on May 16, these teams will play in 16 regionals across the country, hosted by the 16 national seeds.

Texas A&M softball is the No. 1 seed in the NCAA softball tournament for the first time ever. The Aggies finished third in the SEC standings during the regular season but reached the SEC Softball Tournament championship game against Oklahoma. However, with the game being washed out due to inclement weather, Texas A&M could not prove it could defeat the defending champions just yet.

Kirby Smart and Georgia football continue to add to their 2026 recruiting class. On Sunday, four-star safety Jordan Smith announced his commitment to the Bulldogs. Smith is a top-100 player in the country, coming in at No. 95 in the 247 Sports Composite rankings and is another local win for Smart. Georgia added five-star quarterback Jared Curtis to its recruiting class on May 5 and now holds nine commitments in its 2026 recruiting class. Curtis is the No. 2 overall player in the 2026 cycle.

College softball conference tournaments are done, which means the 2025 Women's College World Series is nearly here. On Sunday, May 11, the NCAA selection committee will release the 64-team bracket for the 2025 NCAA softball tournament. The first round of the tournament ― the regional ― takes place across 16 regional host sites. The teams earning a top-16 seed have been dominant all year and are generally favored by RPI (Ratings Power Index).
