Last year, there were no fatalities in commercial plane crashes. However, the total number of fatalities in civil aircraft and cargo aircraft has increased slightly. The deadliest incident occurred in January 2017 when a Turkish cargo jet crashed into a village in rural Kyrgyzstan while attempting to land in foggy weather.

The world’s first solar powered airportKochi International Airport in southern India is the world’s first airport to run entirely on solar energy. Last year it won the top environmental award sponsored by the United Nations. Five years ago, the airport authority began looking for new ways to save energy.
