Last year, there were no fatalities in commercial plane crashes. However, the total number of fatalities in civil aircraft and cargo aircraft has increased slightly. The deadliest incident occurred in January 2017 when a Turkish cargo jet crashed into a village in rural Kyrgyzstan while attempting to land in foggy weather.

Last year it won the top environmental award sponsored by the United Nations. Five years ago, the airport authority began looking for new ways to save energy. First, they installed solar panels on top of a passenger terminal. The initial cost is huge, but over time, solar panels become cheaper and cheaper.
