Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium is in Sydney as part of an economic mission, which aims to strengthen economic ties between the two countries. The 61-year-old royal has come to Australia along with a 350-strong delegation from the Belgian Economic Mission amid free trade negotiations with the European Union.

Minto couple Sam and Chelle Oakes run The Formal Project, a community initiative Sam’s been at the helm of for three years. This year, as cost of living pressures hit family budgets hard, demand for free formal garb has already more than doubled. “Last year we did 416 kids, and this year we’ve got 872 booked in,” Sam said.
