Remain will be a novel and film project co-created by both Sparks and Shyamalan. Sparks’ novel version will be released later this year, and the film will come out a year later. The film tells the story of a dental hygienist seduced by a mysterious mermaid into the dark and wet underworld of Florida’s exotic animal trade. Alejandro Landes Echavarría (Monos) will helm the project, which is based on a script by Landes Echavarría and Duke Merriman.
