Two and a half years after Israel's Sovereign Wealth Fund, known as the Citizens' Fund, began operations, the fund has accrued NIS 7.5 billion. The Israel Tax Authority reports that as of the end of 2024 total levies collected on gas profits and excess profits on natural resources amounted to NIS 7.5 billion, of which NIS 6.1 billion is in final levies (amounts that cannot be appealed). In total, nearly NIS 1 billion was collected in 2024, compared with about NIS 2 billion in 2023.

"The public must realize the magnitude of the crisis. The damage to GDP and the rapid increase in our deficit due the current war, have reached the levels of two previous security and economic crises - the Yom Kippur War, and the second Intifada - combined. The Central Bottling Co. (Coca-Cola Israel), which exclusively markets Coca-Cola products in Israel, has been dealt a major blow and will have to pay hundreds of millions of shekels to the Israel Tax Authority. The Tel Aviv District Court has dismissed appeals filed by the company against the tax assessment issued by the Tax Authority on the Central Bottling Company's tax liability for royalties it paid for using the intellectual property rights of Coca-Cola worldwide.

This morning, reporting was permitted of the longest ever operation of a covert agent by the Israel Police, in cooperation with the Israel Tax Authority. The operation has now ended, after the agent, who was given the code name Jack Sparrow, exposed crimes of goods smuggling in return for bribes, and tax and money laundering offenses, amounting to tens of millions of shekels at Ashdod Port.
