    For a few months, we’ve been asking noteworthy people across Canada to describe their relationship with the natural world in our Moose Questionnaire. It’s an effort to build community and celebrate how all of us have our own connection to the land and water. And I was so excited to give the questionnaire to Inuk actor Anna Lambe. The 23-year-old is known for True Detective and The Grizzlies, and she has a new show, North of North, which brings a humorous and honest take on life in the North.

The leaders of Ontario’s major political parties went head-to-head in two debates bookending the Family Day weekend — and in both, they rarely touched on the environment. During a total of three hours of back and forth on stage, the environment took up some 20 minutes. That’s a bit higher than our tally during the last provincial election in 2022, but not by much.

When Toronto’s public transit agency became the first in North America to ban tobacco advertising on buses, subways and streetcars in 1980, an industry group accused it of “knuckling under” to the anti-smoking lobby. Scientific studies since the 1960s had exposed the public to the dangers of smoking.
