1 INTRODUCTION Bioprocess innovation is driven by generating more products in less time and less space with the goal of alleviating the price of therapeutics, both in terms of speed-to-clinic and minimizing the costs of the process itself (Erickson et al., 2021; O'Mara et al., 2023; Schwellenbach et al., 2016; Shukla et al., 2017; Sommerfeld & Strube, 2005).
