On Tuesday, June 3, the White House moved forward with a rescissions package — a fast-track proposal to Congress to claw back $1.1B of pre-approved funds for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

It has been a deeply disturbing few weeks for public media. Last week, it was reported that The White House is planning to send a proposal to Congress formally requesting the elimination of federal funding for public media. If approved, this would directly threaten Blue Ridge Public Radio's ability to bring you the local journalism and national NPR programming that our entire community relies on. In addition the new head of the FCC ordered an investigation into NPR and PBS.

We are partnering with our friends in public media, LAist, to bring you a new radio program called Go Fact Yourself. Itwill air on Saturdays at 11 a.m. starting February 15 through June 28. WUWM was selected as the first station to pilot this program with LAist, as they consider it for national distribution.Go Fact Yourself is a pop culture trivia show hosted by J. Keith van Straaten (Ask Me Another, Senior Writer) and Helen Hong (Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me, recurring panelist).
