In December 2017, the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse handed down its final report. The following year, the National Redress Scheme was established. But six years on, many survivors of abuse are still waiting to be compensated with at least 50 applications road blocked because 12 organisations - including sporting groups - are refusing to join the Redress Scheme.

South Korea's main opposition party has urged President Yoon Suk Yeol to resign immediately or face impeachment after dramatic scenes in the capital overnight. The President had imposed martial law vowing to eliminate "anti-state" forces - he accused of sympathising with communist North Korea. Troops had encircled parliament but the martial law was short-lived with the National Assembly voting to overrule the president early this morning.

Australia has now backed a UN resolution demanding "Israel bring to an end its unlawful presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory as rapidly as possible". The resolution also calls for an end to all new settlement activities and for settlers to be removed from occupied territory. The Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong says the decision has been motivated by a desire for peace and support for a two-state solution.
