    Coming off of a series where the UW-Eau Claire men’s hockey team got swept by #2 ranked St. Norbert College, the Blugolds had two WIAC battles against Northland College and UW-River Falls on Dec 6-7. After losing 2-1 against St. Norbert in tight fashion in the second game of the series, the Blugolds got off to a quick start against Northland College Friday night. First-year forward Nolan Grier got on the board for the Blugolds at the 6:51 stamp with a powerplay score.

    The UW-Eau Claire men’s basketball program entered the 2024-25 season with a new look and arena to play in. On April 4, Zach Malvik was named the 11th head coach in program history. At Winona State from 2003-2007, Malvik was a DII National Champion in 2006 and an All-American in 2007. After having assistant coaching roles at  Saint Mary’s University and Winona State, Malvik became an assistant coach at UW-Green Bay in 2023.

    The UW-Eau Claire cross country team raced in the WIAC Championships in Stevens Point, Wisconsin on Saturday, Nov 2. Both the men’s and women’s teams turned in third-place performances. The women’s team was led by third-year Keeley Behr who placed sixth with a time of 21:41.3 in the 6k. On the men’s side, fourth-year Mason Shea earned WIAC first team honors for his performance. He came in at seventh place with a season best time of 24:13.8 in the 8k.

    UW-Eau Claire football traveled on the road to play rival UW-Stout in the war on I-94, Saturday, Oct 26. The Blugolds looked to end their 8-game losing streak in matchups against Stout. After Stout won the toss and deferred, meaning they elected to receive the ball at the start of the second half, the Blugolds got off to a quick start, scoring on their first possession. The drive was propelled by three first downs and a six-yard touchdown pass by Harry Roubidoux to wide receiver Yaach Chuol.
