    SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – After nearly five years of notices, fines, and fees, El Dorado’s Superior Court has ruled that Sunray Hotel will be either rehabilitated or demolished, due to the risks to health and safety it poses to the city. The city petitioned for an order to abate in October 2024, which received a tentative ruling on Thursday last week and an official ruling on Friday after a hearing. Sunray Hotel is owned by Fragranice Inc. and stands on 2659 Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

    SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Last weekend, Tahoe Elite Cheer’s juniors took yet another first-place trophy home from JAMZ’s Showdown at the Bay. They will be attending nationals for their second year in a row come May. According to the Tahoe Elite Cheer’s calendar, the team selects three competitions to perform at. Their first, Battle at the Capitol, took place in November. In December, they were also slated to compete at Adrenaline in Stockton.

    SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – South Lake Tahoe’s first city council meeting of the year addressed the Vision Zero plan to reduce traffic accidents in the city, citizen appointments for city boards and commissions, and a back-and-forth regarding microenterprise home kitchen operations (MEHKOs). The full city council was in attendance, though Councilmember Keith Roberts attended through Zoom from a conference room in Micronesia.

Though it has stood since 1961, in the past few years, it has fallen into disrepair and has become a health and public safety concern. On December 20, the city filed a petition to abate the substandard building, which will be heard by the end of January. The suit was filed against three respondents: the current property owner, Stephen C.
