A group of US citizens who are lessees of apartments in the Nayot and Talbiya neighborhoods of Jerusalem are organizing to influence the makeup of the Keren Kayemet LeIsrael executive board following the upcoming World Zionist Congress election, the Jerusalem Post has learned. The group’s goal is for KKL to extend its primary lease of land that includes approximately 1,000 apartments for another century or more.

Otzma Yehudit’s departure from the government and coalition, which will come into effect on Tuesday morning, will lead to a reshuffling in the government and Knesset. In the government, Otzma Yehudit had three ministries – the National Security Ministry, the Negev and Galilee Ministry, and the Heritage Ministry. The national security ministry and Negev and Galilee ministry will likely be given to existing ministers from the Likud, according to a source.

Diaspora Affairs and Combatting Antisemitism Minister Amichai Chikli (Likud) threatened in a lengthy statement on Thursday to resign his position as a minister if the deal includes a retreat from the Philadelphi Corridor on the Gaza-Egypt border, or “if we do not return to fight in order to complete the goals of the war.”The announcement was significant, as Chikli was the first minister from the Likud to threaten to resign. The Religious Zionist Party made a similar threat earlier on Thursday.
