The family rear-ended in the car, which is now totaled, is recovering from minor injuries and is grateful for an “extraordinary” community response. A driver was arrested for DUI and booked into jail April 11 after rear-ending a vehicle with three passengers inside, leaving the scene and causing more damage. The accident victims, La Jolla residents Gloria Muzquiz and her sons, 12 and 10, have minor injuries and are recovering.

A trough of low pressure will keep La Jolla cool and breezy this week, according to the National Weather Service. By Wednesday, April 16, the cooler weather will bring morning drizzle and windier weather, keeping coastal areas damp through Friday, April 18, with a chance for rain April 17 and 18.

Parent organizer Kerri DeNies is asking for donations to fund a telecommunications attorney to stop the project to add two towers to the youth field. Holding signs and chanting, about 90 people gathered April 11 at Cliffridge Park to protest a proposed set of 5G wireless equipment. Led by Kerri DeNies, a parent of a student at adjacent Torrey Pines Elementary, the protest also called on attendees to sign a petition and donate to fund a telecommunications attorney to aid the fight.
