After a three-year decline in transient occupancy tax revenues, Mendocino County may be seeing a turnaround. Business improvement district collections — tied to hotel stays — rose 12% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year, according to Tourism Commission Director Ramon Jimenez. That’s despite national trends showing a 14% drop in international tourism. Mendocino County collected a peak of $8.4 million in hotel taxes in 2021-22.
