An obese American death row inmate’s final meal has been revealed after he was executed, despite his lawyers trying to argue he was too overweight for lethal injection. Weighing in at 172kg, Michael Tanzi, labelled a “fledgling serial killer” or “serial killer in the making” was put to death at Florida State Prison around 6pm on Tuesday. Tanzi was handed the death sentence for brutally kidnapping and murdering Miami Herald employee Janet Acosta 24 years ago.

He was only Premier of Tasmania for a couple of years, but Tony Rundle is being remembered as a ‘remarkable man’ who left behind a ‘positive legacy’ while leading the state through some of its ‘darkest days’. Mr Rundle, who was premier of Tasmania between March 1996 to September 1998 and a long-serving Liberal Member for Braddon, between 1986 and 2002, has died aged 86.

Mrs Cutten passed peacefully on Friday surrounded by loved ones, with a death notice on Saturday remembering her as a loving mother, a beloved sister, stepmother and devoted partner of photographer Jo Daniell. Fashion was Mrs Cutten’s life-long passion, with her designs bringing joy to women and adding flair to wardrobes for more than 40 years.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has taken an unfortunate tumble onstage while posing for photos on the campaign trail. Mr Albanese was delivering a speech at an event in Lovedale, NSW, in the Hunter region when he slipped from the platform. He was quickly helped back to his feet before he waved to the crowd suggesting he was OK, laughing off the embarrassing situation. Mr Albanese spoke to the Mining and Energy Union in the electorate of Hunter to promote Labor’s “same job, same pay” policy.

Police have charged another man in their fight to combat anti-Semitic attacks across Sydney, bringing their total number of arrests to 31. A 23-year-old man was today charged over a series of alleged horrendous anti-Semitic graffiti in the Eastern suburbs last month. Police allege the man spray painted several cars, garages and walls with offensive language on See Street, Kingsford and King Lane in Randwick.
