A British man has had his murder conviction overturned after new DNA evidence cast doubt on his guilt. Peter Sullivan, who spent more than 38 years in custody for the murder of Diane Sindall, is thought to be the victim of the country's longest miscarriage of justice. Police have reopened their investigation into Ms Sindall's death but have found no match for forensic evidence left at the scene.

Federal Labor will today unveil a $1 billion mental health package as it continues to put healthcare at the centre of its re-election pitch to voters. Labor's promising a raft of changes including building or upgrading about 30 walk-in mental health services offering free support, and about 60 headspace centres for young people. It's also vowing to boost the workforce and provide additional support to young people with complex needs.

He'd have liked to see dental and mental health added to Medicare, and tax on big corporations. "You know, we still have a situation where a nurse can pay more tax than a multinational and we think that's wrong," he said.
