As Tropical Storm Ernesto threatened to cause yet another blackout across Puerto Rico, LUMA, the private company managing the energy system, urged patients reliant on electrical devices to register on a list. “At the moment, we have 3,000 people registered with life-preserving equipment, and that’s far too few,” said Juan Saca, the company’s president, at a press conference on August 12. He claimed that LUMA would prioritize restoring power for these individuals.

LUMA, la empresa privatizadora del sistema de energía, urgió a que los pacientes conectados a aparatos eléctricos se registraran en una lista, cuando era inminente que la tormenta Ernesto causaría un nuevo apagón en Puerto Rico. “En este momento tenemos tres mil personas registradas con equipo de preservación de vida y eso es muy poquito”, dijo Juan Saca, presidente de la compañía, en una conferencia de prensa el 12 de agosto. Alegó que LUMA les daría prioridad para devolverles la luz.
