    SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- A fundraising campaign to save the recently eliminated Cal Poly men's and women's swimming and diving programs came up short and the programs will not be reinstated, university president Jeffrey D. Armstrong announced. The school announced the elimination of the programs in March, citing the financial hardships expected to arrive next month when schools can begin sharing revenue with athletes. The Save Cal Poly Swim and Dive group was formed to try and save the programs.

    Sacramento State will join the Big West conference as a full member starting with the 2026-27 academic year. Sacramento State informed the Big Sky on Wednesday that it will leave the conference after this year and the Big West announced that the school will become the 12th school in the conference. "The Big West membership and conference staff are excited to welcome Sacramento State to The Big West," commissioner Dan Butterly said in a statement.

    Former Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs, on special release from prison Tuesday night, spoke at a Hope for Prisoners event in Las Vegas and apologized to the family of a woman he killed in a car crash nearly four years ago. Ruggs drove his sports car at speeds up to 156 mph in the city on Nov. 2, 2021, slamming into a vehicle that killed driver Tina Tintor and her dog, Max. Tintor was 23.
